Songleaders! I Created an AI Planning Partner Just for Us

Jewish songleaders are more than music teachers.

We’re community builders, spiritual leaders, curriculum designers, and caregivers. And often, we’re doing it alone while also simultaneously fulfilling a myriad of other roles.

With minimal prep time, unclear expectations, and limited resources, many educators are expected to craft developmentally appropriate, musically rich, spiritually grounded sessions… without the infrastructure to support that work.

That’s not sustainable. And it’s not respectful of what this work actually requires.

So I built something different: An AI Song Session Planner.

Inside the Songleading for Kiddos Support Squad, members now have access to the Session Planner, a customized “GPT” (think ChatGPT, but trained specifically on my curriculum and methods) that I built, designed for Jewish music educators working with children (clergy, early childhood educators, religious school music teachers…).

Never used AI before? No problem.

You just type or voice-dictate your ideas like you’re talking to a colleague or friend.  This isn’t about generic lesson plans or plug-and-play templates. No special commands, this is not a technical process.

Instead, it’s a collaborative thinking partner that helps you turn your own ideas, no matter how underdeveloped or scattered, into replicable, developmentally aligned sessions that are structured, aligned with your goals, and infused with your voice.

Think of the output as a cross between a lesson plan and a set list

This process gives you the educational framework AND the song flow you need to lead with confidence.

I wanted to give all Songleading for Kiddos members a way to benefit from my decades of compulsive research and nerdiness about child development, Jewish education, and musical pedagogy. I’d never had a way to distill and transfer this knowledge before—and I’m excited that everyone can now learn from the insights and experiences I’ve amassed.

You can begin with a simple idea, in this example: “I want to plan a session for camp, our theme is Israel, I want to do The Hope by Rick Recht, and teach some Hebrew vocabulary words.” Watch me do exactly that in the demo below.

In less than 10 minutes, you’ll see exactly how the Session Planner:

  • Takes my scattered camp assignment and song idea and asks the right clarifying questions
  • Suggests songs I hadn’t thought of (like “Toda” by Lisa Baydush for vocabulary practice)
  • Catches when I give feedback (“Writing on a camel is too young—that’s a lap bounce song”)
  • Builds a complete session plan called “Shalom, Simcha & Songs of Israel”
  • Creates materials lists, timing, and even parent-friendly descriptions
  • Opens an editable document I can customize and save to Google Drive

This isn’t theoretical, you’ll watch me give real feedback, make real corrections, and end up with a session I could actually use tomorrow.

This Isn’t About Replacing You. It’s About Supporting You.

This tool isn’t trying to be a shortcut or do your thinking for you. It’s designed to be a support system that helps you access and apply everything I’ve learned about developmentally grounded Jewish music education.

You bring the wisdom, creativity, and human connection. The Session Planner helps you organize your ideas and gives you a pedagogical framework to lean on.

I believe every child deserves to be taught by a grown-up who understands how children learn. And every grown-up deserves tools that help them do that without burning out.

The Session Planner was created to:

  • Help you shape song lists and teaching ideas into structured plans
  • Clarify session goals—musical, spiritual, social-emotional
  • Turn scattered brainstorms into developmentally grounded sequences
  • Provide pedagogical frameworks that honor both your intuition and educational best practices
  • Free up time and energy for what matters most: showing up with presence

Think of it as a musical sous chef—helping prep and organize your session so you can focus on the relational magic that only you can bring.

It’s not perfect and its not polished. It needs a human touch for polish- but its a lot better and faster than what I could generate independently.
